In his first day of his second term, President Donald Trump announced significant actions impacting Latin America and the Caribbean, including a national emergency on the Mexico border, plans for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, reclassifying Cuba as a terrorist-sponsoring country, and proposed tariffs on Mexico and Canada.

He also stated the U.S. might stop purchasing Venezuelan oil, ended automatic citizenship for U.S.-born individuals, and nominated Marco Rubio as Secretary of State. 

Additionally, Trump declared intentions to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the World Health Organization while facilitating more oil drilling in the U.S.
