In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro initiated a weekend enlistment campaign for militia forces, claiming it's a response to perceived threats from the U.S. and aimed at preparing for potential external aggression. 

He announced a mobilization of 4.5 million armed militiamen as part of a peace plan for sovereignty. 

Meanwhile, in Colombia, two coordinated attacks attributed to FARC dissidents resulted in fatalities—one involving a drone downing a police helicopter in Antioquia and another a car bomb near an air base in Cali. 

President Gustavo Petro condemned the attacks as terrorism and plans to designate the perpetrators as terrorist organizations.
