The News with Jorge Gestoso
Hello, I’m Jorge Getoso.
Today, Venezuela denounced before the U.N. a U.S. military deployment in the Caribbean involving destroyers, nuclear submarines, aircraft, and thousands of troops. Caracas demanded its immediate end, warning it threatens regional sovereignty, and urged member states to back CELAC’s call for Latin America and the Caribbean as a peace zone.
In Bolivia, former Supreme Court president Eduardo Rodríguez Veltzé criticized the High Court’s decision granting house arrest to ex-governor Luis Fernando Camacho and releasing civic leader Marco Antonio Pumari—figures linked to the 2019 coup against Evo Morales. He called the ruling politically motivated, coinciding with a right-wing shift in Bolivia’s recent elections.
And in Honduras, polls for the November elections show ruling party candidate Richie Moncada leading with 50%, followed by Salvador Nasralla at 26% and Nasri Asfura at 17%. Moncada faces a fierce smear campaign from right-wing sectors.
That’s all for now. I’m Jorge Getoso, and this has been The News with Jorge Getoso.
