In a recent press conference, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro warned of a significant threat to Venezuela from U.S. military forces, including warships and a nuclear submarine, allegedly under the pretext of combating drug trafficking. He accused U.S. officials, particularly Marco Rubio, of promoting violence and regime change, and announced his commitment to defend Venezuela against potential attacks, declaring a state of national mobilization for armed struggle if necessary.

Meanwhile, foreign ministers from CELAC countries expressed solidarity with Maduro, emphasizing the need for Latin America to remain a peaceful region. Colombian President Gustavo Petro warned that aggression against Venezuela could lead to broader conflict in the region.

In Brazil, a legal trial has begun against former President Jair Bolsonaro and his allies for a coup attempt following the 2022 elections.

Additionally, at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed initiatives to enhance economic integration and reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar.
