The News with Jorge Gestoso

teleSUR English Poscast

Hello, I’m Jorge Gestoso and welcome to today’s podcast.

The President of Venezuela is calling for an urgent CELAC-led conference to address the sovereignty of Latin American countries and promote peace. Nicole Maduro’s initiative seeks support from regional leaders to coordinate responses to potential foreign interventions.

Meanwhile, President Gustavo Petro criticised Washington’s announcement regarding Colombia’s role in the fight against drug trafficking. He highlighted the high levels of drug consumption in the United States and criticised U.S. authorities for failing to address the problem affecting his country.

In Ecuador, labor unions have announced mobilizations on September 18 and 23 against the neoliberal right-wing government of Nielo Boa. They demand a declaration of a state of emergency in the health system, the reinstatement of the diesel subsidy, and policies that improve the quality of life for the majority of Ecuadorians, rather than favoring elites.

That’s all for today’s podcast. I’m Jorge Gestoso—join me next time for more news updates.
