The News with Jorge Gestoso

teleSUR English Poscast

Hello, I’m Jorge Gestoso, and welcome to today’s podcast.

In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro responded to statements by his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, who said he plans to conduct land attacks against what he calls “narco-terrorists” and continues bombing vessels without proof that they transport drugs.

In Honduras, members of the Liberal Party and its presidential candidate, Salvador Nasralla, have been accused of inciting hatred after burning a flag of the ruling Libre Party. Authorities described the act as one of violence and desperation, calling on the judiciary and the electoral body to take immediate action against those responsible. Meanwhile, the ruling party’s presidential candidate, Richie Moncada, continues to lead in the polls ahead of November’s elections.

In Argentina, legislative elections are scheduled for this Sunday, which experts see as a referendum on the current government’s austerity programs. The far-right leader arrives at these elections with plummeting approval ratings, tainted by corruption scandals, and has closed his campaign amid protests against him.

And that’s our news for today. I’m Jorge Gestoso. Join me again on another edition of The News with Jorge Gestoso. Talk to you then.
