The News with Jorge Gestoso

teleSUR English Poscast

Hello, I'm Jorge Gestoso. On today's podcast, Dercy Rodríguez, acting president of Venezuela, stated that there is a stain on relations with the United States that has never occurred before in history between the two countries, and emphasized that Venezuela has and will continue to have relations with all the countries of the hemisphere and the world.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reports that Trump wants to take control of PDVSA, Venezuela's state oil company, and that his final and global objective is to push the world price of a barrel of crude down to $50.

For his part, the Minister of Interior Relations, Leonardo Cabello, reported that so far there are at least a hundred people dead and a similar number injured as a result of the U.S. attack on Venezuela on January the 3rd.

In the U.S., there is great outrage following the killing of a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, mother of three, by ICE agents, when the victim drove her vehicle into the middle of a street in Minneapolis and was suddenly approached by several immigration agents, and one of them, just as her vehicle began to move, fired three shots at very close range, ending her life seconds later. The video of her death has sparked massive protests across the country against this immigration policy being implemented by the Trump administration.

And in Bolivia, social organizations are mobilizing and the Bolivian Workers' Union reaffirms its demand to the government of the new right-wing President Rodrigo Paz to repeal the decree that reinstates economic neoliberalism.

And that's the good news. I'm Jorge Gestoso. Please join me on another podcast of The News with Jorge Gestoso. Talk to you then.
