Colombia - election
Colombia will head to a runoff of presidential elections on June the 21st between progressive candidate Ivan Cepeda and far-right candidate Abelardo de la Espriella .
Cepeda denounced serious irregularities, 880,000 additional identification records in the system compared to the official voter registry and suggested foreign interference.
Meanwhile, President Gustavo Petro stated that he will recognize only the official results and not the current figures, which come from a quick count and have no legal validity.
Bolivia
The Assembly of the Bolivian Workers' Central continued its pressure measures against President Rodrigo Paz. The organization, which brings together 70 labor unions, has ruled out attending talks with the government and reaffirmed its rejection of the government's neoliberal policies, while agreeing to allow medical assistance to pass through the roadblocks it maintains throughout the country.
Israel
And Israel is intensifying its invasion of southern Lebanon, consolidating its deepest advance in more than 25 years. The Lebanese prime minister accused Israel of implementing a scorched-earth policy, while analysts warn that the military escalation is strengthening Hezbollah's armed stance.
