Peru

In Peru, left-wing candidate Roberto Sánchez leads right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori by more than 42,000 votes as the vote count continues.

With only 4% of the votes left to be counted, the expected trend is that they will favor Sánchez since the incoming counted ballots come from rural areas and Sánchez has more support than Fujimori in Peru's remote interior regions.

Bolivia

In Bolivia, the right-wing neoliberal president Rodrigo Paz ordered the armed forces and the police to carry out the plan defined by his government to unblock highways and put an end to the prolonged social conflict through a state of emergency.

The Bolivian Workers' Central, which brings together 70 labor unions, continues to demand President Paz's resignation.
